technic revolution for less waste in fashion industry

challenge:

The fashion industry is dealing with materials waste problem. Constant waste during design process, such as samples and protos that never got chance for actual use, as well as the mass production only leave huge amount of unwanted pieces lying around in garbage field.

Way of finding solution:

Brands and designers are looking for new ways of creating more sustainable design, such as: upcycling, nature material, pattern optimization and bring awareness to consumer. But nothing still can truly fix the real problem, because if there are producing than waste must be made.

My own approach:

Working with 3D help designer cutting a lot unnecessary waste during production,  with the 3D program can at least save 50% of material waste of samples and protos, especially for small designer brand, it’s a fast way to make try out without spending extra budget on fabric and material.

But 3D program still have it’s flaws, which is that it still can’t simulate all extreme situation as in real world, which a another way is the investor really putting invest into 3D or digital fashion development.
